Preschool SiGHT® LEA Symbols and HOTV Screening System
The Preschool SiGHT® (Simple Glaser HOTV Test) Screening System was developed to facilitate rapid and accurate screening for reversible vision loss in young children.
The test can be performed rapidly in any size room. Only one examiner is needed. Any staff member should be able to perform the test. This facilitates easy screening of 3-5 year-olds during routine well child examinations. The test involves the use both LEA Symbols® and HOTV letters (optotypes).
Single LEA Symbols® and HOTV optotypes are found on the flip cards (spiral bound) in line sizes 20/100, 20/50 and 20/30. The child is tested at the proper distance of 40" (1 meter) with the attached cord and occluder.

What doctors have been saying about the Preschool SiGHT Screening System
You deserve accolades for your "preschool SIGHT screening" instrument. I now have several years experience using it and I have detected many children with amblyopia much earlier than would be possible in the past. None of these children gave any indication there was a problem and all would have been unable to cooperate enough to do traditional screening. Needless to say, parents are always astounded there is a vision issue and are most thankful for the test. (My record earliest pick up has been a 2 1/2 year old!!)
The instrument is truly simple to use and clearly quicker and more accurate than any other screening method. It is as low maintenance as you can get and is virtually indestructible--all of which makes it a true bargain.
The major issue, which is out of your hands, is getting third party reimbursement. Insurance companies routinely cover audiometry, so why not vision screening?
Again, many thanks for your efforts to improve the visual health of children.
Hopefully, the Glaser Sight test will become more widely used so that fewer children will suffer the ravages of vision loss.
With warm regards,
Alan Gober, M.D.
I love your eye testing system. It's inexpensive, easy to use and very effective. It not only allows us to successfully test three year olds but also allows many older kids who can't pass the machine test to pass a vision screen. Thanks again,
Stuart Taylor, M.D.
